CASA Spotlight

Mary Trexler

Meet CASA Volunteer Mary!

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Mary Trexler, one of our extraordinary volunteers in Taney County. Mary’s story is a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the difference one person can make in the life of a child.

Mary lives in Hollister with her husband, Rick, and their two children. A true animal lover, her family includes two dogs and seven cats! Mary owns Mochas and Meows Cat Cafe in Branson, where she shares her passion for cats with the community. As a certified feline behavior consultant, she’s preparing to launch an in-home feline behavior consulting practice this year.

Recently, Mary has rediscovered a love for writing poetry, finding inspiration in quiet moments. When the weather allows, she also enjoys upcycling thrifted furniture, turning forgotten treasures into beautiful, functional pieces.

Why CASA?

Mary first heard about CASA a few years ago but didn’t think it was an option in Taney County until she saw a billboard on Hwy 65. Her decision to become a CASA stems from a deeply personal connection. Having grown up in an abusive home and spending time in foster care at 13, Mary knows firsthand how impactful having a trustworthy adult could have been. “I’ve often wondered what life could have been if I’d had someone who was truly on my side. I hope to be that someone for a kid who needs it,” she shares.

For Mary, CASA has been transformative on a personal level as well. “The training and experience I’ve gained have helped me develop confidence in advocating-not only for my kiddo, but also for the children in our community,” she says.

Mary’s advice to anyone thinking about becoming a CASA is simple yet powerful: “DO IT. Your only regret will be that you didn’t get involved sooner.”

Mary, thank you for your heart, your dedication, and your unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in foster care. We’re so lucky to have you as part of the CASA family!
