APRIL 22, 2025: CASA of SWMO faces funding cuts

APRIL 22, 2025: CASA of Southwest Missouri receives notification that National CASA funding was cut, impacting the local program serving Greene, Christian, and Taney Counties.

“The Department of Justice has terminated federal funding that supports CASA programs across the country.

For CASA of Southwest Missouri, this means a direct loss of approximately $95,000 annually, a devastating blow that will immediately impact our ability to serve abused and neglected children in foster care right here in our community.

We need your help now more than ever. Here’s how:

1. Contact Your Senators and Representatives

Ask them to immediately contact the Department of Justice to express concern about this decision. Your voice can make a difference for the children and youth who count on CASA to stand beside them.
Find your senators and representatives here:
https://www.congress.gov/contact-us

Please urge them to protect the National CASA/GAL network—children in foster care need a voice, and that voice is a CASA volunteer.

2. Make a Donation

Help us close this sudden funding gap by making a gift today. Your support directly fuels our mission—recruiting, training, and supporting advocates for children who need us most.

Why CASA?

  • Children with a CASA spend 4 months less in foster care
  • Re-entry into foster care is less than 1% for CASA children (vs. 17% statewide)
  • CASA can save taxpayers over $20,000 per child per year

All donations over $100 qualify for 50% Missouri State Tax Credits.

Together, we can weather this challenge and continue being the voice our children need.”
